GPDE were appointed to complete the mechanical and public health design for this project. Five existing blocks of the University Campus were internally re-planned and refurbished.

 

The level of works varied from the replacement of existing equipment to a complete change of use of one block. The refurbishment included a new Entrance Reception, Refectory, Learning areas as well as dedicated engineering and construction workshops, IT suites and specialist Hair and Holistic salons. Some areas within the blocks and the college remained functional throughout the entire project therefore isolation of services within plantrooms proved a major part of the works.

 

Brief outline of works completed across all blocks include:

 

  • Existing mechanical services were extended and some mechanical services were stripped out including hose reels to suit the new layout.

  • Cooling provided by new FCU’s

  • Installed new PH to WC kitchen/refectory area.

  • Relocation of CCTV Camera

  • Complete refurbishment to suit new layout.

  • Mechanical ventilation designed.

  • New water storage tank installed to replace existing water tank.

  • Cooling to server room designed

  • Removal and remodelling of existing distribution systems to suit floor layout.

  • Heating provided by combination of existing and new radiators.

  • Modified roof plant area for new extract fans/smoke ventilation.
